In order to receive an allocation of NMTC from the CDFI Fund, you must first be certified as a
Community Development Entity (CDE).
The basic requirements to be a CDE are:
● Be a legal entity at the time of application;
● Have a primary mission of serving Low-Income Communities (LICs);
AND
● Maintain accountability to the residents of targeted LICs.
If you don’t meet these basic qualifications, you can’t be a CDE and receive your own NMTC
Allocation.
